The cultural catalysts of globalFEST return for their 4th annual summer edition at Lincoln Center on August 2nd with a musical takeover of the entire outdoor campus with a female-forward lineup. Experience this unique mix of music from around the planet (and around the corner) with psychedelic Turkish folk superstar Gaye Su Akyol; Soweto, South Africa’s Afropunk, funk, and gospel consciousness raisers BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness); the genre-bending Puerto Rican bomba-infused El Laberinto del Coco featuring four female singers and baritone sax; and the flamboyant West African singer and guitarist Natu Camara. globalFEST alum and soul-stirring Afro-Indigenous American roots music singer/songwriter Martha Redbone curates the Hearst Plaza stage this year with a trio of powerful singer/songwriter/bandleaders, featuring sets from Red Roots Americana Aquinnah Wampanoag singer Thea Hopkins, legendary Chilean jazz vocalist Claudia Acuña, and Taina Asili, a singer of rebellious songs for love and liberation.
